Legislature approves Senate Bills 1228, 1269, 1311, and 1314 with unanimous votes.

After the SCC presentation the committee's subcommittees reported a long slate of bills out of committee, advancing measures on prevailing wage for underground infrastructure, building‑service worker protections, migrant labor camp permit timing, private provider transit employee protections, noncompete bans for health care professionals, paid family leave and multiple clean‑energy provisions.

A labor economist urged Congress to direct the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Census to add AI questions to surveys and link adoption data to worker outcomes so policymakers can measure AI's real effects on tasks and occupations.

The Committee on Labor and Commerce received subcommittee reports and voted to report or refer a slate of labor and energy bills, including paid sick leave expansion (HB 5), a farmworker minimum-wage change (HB 20), HB 130 (workers' compensation presumption) and multiple utility-related measures. Several measures were referred to Appropriations.

Jessica Luman, Governor Spanberger's nominee for secretary of labor, emphasized preventing wage theft and expanding worker protections; Carrie Chenery, the economic development nominee, highlighted statewide business attraction and infrastructure priorities.
