Apparently Ribisi has vintage cameras as a hobby and personally restored the vintage VistaVision camera used as the main camera for much of Paul Thomas Anderson's 'One Battle After Another'

Time for billionaire movie no. 2, in VistaVision

Caught DIGGER again, this time in VistaVision before it was gone. Really liked it even more the second time around, now that I was really able to watch without figuring out what it was / where it was going. Confirmed Riz Ahmed is its sneaky MVP.

very bummed they took it off IMAX so quickly here but it was still awesome in Vistavision

Finally get to see Digger again… this time in VistaVision! But VistaVision at an AMC, so no idea if it’ll even be in focus.

(This would not post from the theater, so I’m doing it hours later. The print looked fantastic! But it did NOT switch aspect ratios […]

I imagine PTA gave AGI some assistance with the VistaVision aspect of the production

(Yes, I KNOW VistaVision is 1.5:1, but still… if the aspect ratio shift was important to the film (I feel it adds something), why not 1.85 that sucker and pillar box like the DCP?)

Oh shit, I don't know where I heard Ben-Hur specifically... Yeah, it was just meant to compete with the big American Vistavision releases that sorta led into that.

i gotta see this before the vistavision screenings here end

I’ve always felt that the demise of “footies“ was the result of the introduction of large format film cameras like 65 mm and VistaVision.
The only operators who could handle an IMAX camera with their feet were NASA astronauts.

Today I saw the uncut version of The Devils AND the VistaVision print of Digger at @thecoolidge.bsky.social with my good friend @renegadecut.com, in a double feature I call: “God is Dead, We Killed Him, Made Ourselves God, And Are Now Being Killed By Our Own Creations”

Huge day for films on film. I was so mad when I learned The Devils would be upstairs because the biggest screen was set up for VistaVision. Then I saw Digger. I'm not saying it's as good as The Devils, but it's definitely worth seeing in VistaVision imo.

If anyone would like to know why this film (Vertigo) looks like this: VistaVision.
Rotated film feed, post-scaling, and that beautiful shallow depth of field. A lot of Paramount movies of the era were shot this way. The film itself also contributes to the era's "feel".

Heat at the New Beverly. One Battle After Another in VistaVision at the Vista. Any QT movie at the new Beverly

With the amount of prestige filmmakers that are using VistaVision for their recenr films, if one of them decides to make a film for Paramount using VistaVision, they should totally bring this back as a retro variant.

Voting for Zaireeka style, preferably in IMAX, Cinerama, VistaVision, or the like.
beatles movies solutions: 1. all four play at the same time like flaming lips' zaireeka 2. christian marclay chops them up and rearranges them into one long movie based on his own internal logic 3. watch the bee gees' sgt pepper instead (carol channing is in it at the end)
