Here in the US, Cinco de Mayo is a festive holiday that celebrates Mexican culture and heritage. But in Mexico, today celebrates a battle in which a ragtag force of 2,000 Indigenous Mexicans (or people of mixed ancestry) fought off 6,000 French troops sent by Napolean III.
