As of August 9, ICE surveils 182,617 people using a variety of technologies, including smartphone apps, ankle monitors, wrist-worn devices, and VoiceID.

Not completely sure, but I suspect that it is due to a kind of transposition error in Chicago and a blank value for the numbers reported from LA. It doesn't explain the entirety of the discrepancy but most of it.

I've been reading the news about the weaponization of electronic devices.

I've also noticed that ICE seems to be using more ankle and wrist devices to monitor ATD enrollees while decreasing use of smartphones.

Assuming they get VoiceID or whatever working so it knows who is speaking, maybe a concerted effort to stream non-stop random garbage using proper voices into those eavesdropping devices…

What scares me about this is the last paragraph. Not for the potential for theft, etc., but for the potential use in disinformation. We have a hard enough time staying united as it is.

just got a call that was probably AI . .. the voice didn't respond to my "hello? hello?" like a human would. instead went "thanks for picking up" twice.... and long pauses .

so probably bot. . They were about to ask me to say my name.
