#VoiceTracking
Do people really listen to the #radio during emergencies? New data from Spain appears to show us. Plus, some impressive bits of voicetracking, and promo codes don’t work.

I retired from being a full-time #radio disc jockey earlier this year but this company is having a little trouble letting go. Cute. 😍😍

Even THAT became unaffordable for small-town stations, so many went the chop-and-splice voicetracking route, where generic breaks get sent out to stations nationwide and the local tags are added at the end by the computer.

Oh, yeah, voicetracking itself has been around for as long as program automation has been a thing, dating all the way back to the 70's, at least. It REALLY exploded with computer-based automation in the 90's, especially after post-Telecom '96 consolidation began.

The same voice on multiple stations of different formats across the country? That was already happening by the time they recorded this, and voicetracking over the Internet really took off like a rocket just a few years later. Hell, these guys actually PRODUCED this recording over e-mail!

And how prescient they were the SECOND time around, as well! Because yes, we DO have radio stations today that are operating *exactly* like this. That record-and-chop voicetracking -- which is *not* AI, but we'll come back to that -- IS genuinely a thing used in smaller markets nationwide.

But #VoiceTracking one #RadioDJ for multiple stations across the world is still used.

So after they spend a lifetime mimicking American media companies (voicetracking, layoffs, bland national playlists, 20 minutes of commercials per hour, etc), Corus now decides to become "all-Canadian" for a day. Can't think of anything more hypocritical.

When you’re broadcasting from 2,500 miles away from the station, you need tech you can rely on. Paul shared this incredible video showing how he uses RCS Zetta2Go to voice track his show on KSKO.

Thanks for sharing this video Paul!
