I would rewatch this just to watch Chester Bennington's trap again (one of my favorite singers, I miss him very much).
I also liked this movie's method for "deaging" John (Jigsaw). They just threw a backwards hat and hoodie on him and called it a day xD

🐭 This was definitely a movie.
The traps were still brutal, but I did notice the visual effects weren't the greatest. The plot twist came out of nowhere. We had NO reason to suspect that Gordon would end up being an apprentice...

🐭 Jigsaw venting about the insurance industry and following it up with "piranha..." is probably one of my favorite parts of the series so far! xD

🐭 I grew up around people who found Barney to be unsettling, and this movie explored "what if that unsettling nature of mascot costumes was justified?" extremely well in my opinion.
I laughed, I cried, I cringed. I thought it was a great experience overall!

🐭 I think I will be sitting this one out. I don't think we will be able to handle this one as a system.

God damn it, John! I wasn't expecting dad jokes from this series! xD

🐭 I saw Saw! :3
This movie was actually a lot tamer than what I was expecting from a series that is synonymous with "torture."
It's still gory and intense, but I enjoyed it.

I've never seen this movie, but the marketing of House of Wax (See Paris Die) upsets me. I don't have a connection to this celebrity, but I prefer to be as surprised as possible when watching a movie. That IS blatantly a spoiler.

There were still intense moments and jumpscares (good news folks with bird fursonas: birds are officially my first jumpscare in a theater setting). I also felt my neck become cold at times.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with this movie.

🐭 It was different from what I tend to expect from horror movies: the horror was based more on surreal and minimal imagery. But it made us think about the concept of memory and self-improvement, and I like movies that make me ponder on life.

🐭 As somebody who graduated with a Bachelor's in Art, I LOVE this movie. It is beautifully shot, the food looks great, and I love the commentary about the process of creating art and the consumption of art in general.

🐭 We will watch the Backrooms on our birthday if this gets... 10 likes?
We don't usually watch movies the same day it comes out, and we haven't seen horror in the theatre before, but we might do it with some encouragement. :3

🐭 So, I think that The Room (2019) was an objectively better created movie, but it was also an uncomfortable watch. I think once might be enough for me.
While The Room (2003) is a trainwreck, I would still definitely revisit this one with friends. x3

Random person telling somebody else what horror movies they watched in 2025: "...there was also The Long Walk."
🐶 Me: "Walk? WALK? Did somebody say 'walk'!???" *Runs around you, whines, and barks until you take me on a walk.*

I can not fathom being able to astral project when asleep, and having to be careful about who I have to interact with when I'm "dreaming." You or your loved ones could end up hurt!
This made the concept of sleeping very unnerving to me!

The freakiest part for me was the stairway to the attic in the first house we were introduced to. It looked EXACTLY like a stairway that was in a house I lived in when I was younger. The similarities didn't carry over to the attic, as movie was spookier.

Suck a freaky movie, but very engaging! This movie would've REALLY gotten to me if I had watched it when it came out.
The premise is very interesting, and it definitely left me wanting more movies in this series!

Do I have any new fears from this rewatch?
Yes: shrapnel from a totaled car decapitating me, since I am a frequent pedestrian, and I often see debris from accidents on the side of the street. 🫣

The premonition of this film, a plane explosion, made me afraid to fly on a plane, which was a frequent thing growing up.
I think my favorite death was Valerie Lewton's. Very elaborate & death really wanted to make sure she was dead! :o

The first installment of the series responsible for a good chunk of my childhood trauma. I wanted to hate this movie for causing me so much panic throughout my life, but dammit...
It's actually a fun movie watching through the lens of being an adult
