Thinking about this side quest in Mass Effect where Shepard does something for a Volus. When you turn it in, the Volus said "You humans wouldn't have done this if there were no reward" and Shepard VEHEMENTLY disagrees. And as they disagree, the "Here's EXP, you leveled up" animation plays.

I keep forgetting with the whole Everything, but uhh.. yesterday was N7 day? Hoo.. hooray? Anyway here's some of my own Mass Effect art that I like, to mark the occasion.
a bustling scene of a night market on the Citadel. Aliens of all species stroll past different stalls. An asari and a quarian pause by a turian food vendor, a hanar vendor regards a volus and human, and in the foreground, an item catches the attention of a small turian child holding his guardian's hand. The picture is done mostly in bright pinks, blues, and oranges, and muted greens. Commander Shepard, a black woman with a shaved head and dressed in her N7 armor, stands next to and casts a smiling look at Tali, an anthropomorphic alien wearing a form-fitting exosuit draped in purple fabric. Tali is holding the unclasped faceplate of her helmet and smiling, breathing the open air. They are standing on the planet Rannoch, in a landscape of arid canyons under a pink and purple sunset. a page of drawings titled "VolusQuest 2021, p. 1/2". It has several drawings of my personal design for members of the volus species: bipedal, potato-shaped guys that look kind of like naked guinea pigs. A drawing of a baby volus has the note "a lumpy little baby". The last drawings are of a volus head in profile, and have the notes "upper nostrils used when swimming - both sets can close air-tight"; "fleshy barbels on face are chemoreceptors. Dense atmosphere makes scent/taste great senses for navigation-- eyesight is comparatively weak"; "small eyepieces limit field of vision" and "helmet prongs filter and process chemical info from the air" (next to a drawing of a volus suit helmet); and "a happy smile looks almost toothless!" a page of drawings titled "VolusQuest 2021 p. 2/2". On the left-hand side is a collection of concept sketches of a volus face: some are more elephant seal, some more porpoise, others getting closer to the nubby guinea pig final look. On the right-hand side are some drawings of a volus in various casual outfits. In the first few, the character is wearing sweatpants and a bandeau, then a halter top that shows a couple rows of short quills along their back. A note reads "spacer volus dress for comfort when out of their exosuits-- some more than others..." another drawing of a boot has the note " 'ship shoes' - envirosuit boot liners with grippy rubber for traction". Below is a drawing of the character yawning and rubbing at one eye, dressed in a Blasto t-shirt and star-patterned shorts. She is getting new e-mail pings on her omnitool. I was stuck in an airport for 7 hours yesterday and the only way to cope was by sketching a comic about the day two of my Mass Effect OCs met
a five-panel sketched comic featuring a quarian and volus in a shop. The volus offers a business card, saying, “Here— if you need anything else, call me!” Flustered, she adds, “I mean— uh— the store! Call the store!” The quarian takes the card and says, “I see. Thank you,” with a soft smile. The volus watches them leave, a little starstruck. 🎨

Shepard talking to Avina, the virtual intelligence which provides tourist information on the Citadel. Avina is saying, "The volus were the first non-Council species to be granted an embassy, roughly 2,384 galactic standard years ago. As Citadel space has expanded, more embassies have been added."

One of the side quests is literally "stop a racist C-Sec goon and the racist volus he's enabling from using trumped-up charges as an excuse to arrest and indefinitely detain a homeless young quarian woman" and yet you're still expected to have faith in the system
