"Love Laid in Stone" (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) Oval crypt. The words have faded — but the stone remembers. 2022.08.11 This is the crypt of Emilia Bykovskaya (1801–1841) — an oval chapel built by her husband, architect Mikhail Bykovsky, after her sudden death in childbirth. Here, stone is not just material — it’s the shape of grief. The French and Latin inscriptions are nearly erased, but the structure still speaks. Even in decay — it remembers. P.S. The architect also dedicated to her an annex to a Catholic church — but it didn’t survive. Technical Credits: Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery Necropolis, Moscow, Russia Camera: Samsung Vega 77i QD Film: Kodak Professional Plus-X 125 (expired December 2012) Development: Kodak D-76 Scanner: Fujifilm Frontier SP-3000 (no corrections applied — raw scan) Date: August 11, 2022 Notes: Film stored under unknown conditions for ~10 years past expiry. Captured during twilight, as the sun set, weaving shadows and silence into the frames. Results are experimental — a dialogue between time, chemistry, and the quiet melancholy of dusk. Grain softened, contrast reduced, tonal range subtly shifted. Each frame carries the memory of its own decay. "A House Where Shadows Live" (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) Dome and cross. The trees’ shadows know — this is memory’s home. 2022.08.11 The Amlong family chapel — a domed shrine among trees. Built by architect Fyodor Amlong as a house for memory. His mother, son, wife, and descendants rest here. The inscription “Familia Amlong” feels like a password to silence. Even the forest seems to guard the family’s shadow. Autumn lies at the base, silence rises up” (Ilford PAN 400)
...Gothic is light hidden in shadow...

“Wings as Shadow, Flower as Question, Pillar as Silence” (Ilford PAN 400) (“Angel Stands. Time Lies at His Feet—Like Shoes Without an Owner”) The angel leans on the column, looking for support in stone but finding it in silence. In the hand, a flower that can’t fade—it’s already part of forever. Fallen leaves at the base are a calendar nobody flips. In black-and-white, grief turns into music that only the photograph can hear. Angel on the stone, flower trembling in the hush, autumn leaves below. __ Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery (Foreign Confessions Cemetery), Lefortovo, Moscow Camera: Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 120 ED (AF) (№3431629) Film: Ilford PAN 400 (expired, storage unknown, exposed at nominal ISO) Development: Kodak D-76 Scanner: Pakon F235+ (no corrections applied — raw scan) Date: October 15, 2018 (exposure) / August 13, 2022 (scan) Notes: The film rested in unknown conditions, like a letter without an address. Silver and chemistry entered into dialogue with autumn: grain softened, contrast grew hesitant, tonal shifts carried the flavor of both decay and light. Each frame is less a document than a conversation between time and stone, with chance conducting the score. This roll is not a record but a ritual: emulsion whispering with fallen leaves, shadows rehearsing eternity. Grain softened, contrast bent, tones shifted like voices in a choir of silence. Each frame carries its own autumn, its own stillness, its own stubborn memory. “The necropolis breathes, its breath smells of time” (Ilford PAN 400) (“Angel Holds Cross—But Heaven’s Door Has No Knob”) Trees ain’t growin’ here—they’re guardin’ forgotten promises. Angel’s holdin’ a cross, but in his hand’s a clock spring that’ll never stop tickin’. Grave shadows creep like cats, hissin’: “We were alive once—till we became shadows.” And the wind, slitherin’ through the branches, repeats: “Time ain’t a river. It’s a nail hammered into your heart every damn day. Fences and gravestones, worn and new, join in a chorus where every voice is stone. This isn’t just a monument; it’s a stage where eternity takes the lead role. Angel with the cross, forest whispers gothic hymns, echoes of autumn. __ Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery (Foreign Confessions Cemetery), Lefortovo, Moscow Camera: Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 120 ED (AF) (№3431629) Film: Ilford PAN 400 (expired, storage unknown, exposed at nominal ISO) Development: Kodak D-76 Scanner: Pakon F235+ (no corrections applied — raw scan) Date: October 15, 2018 (exposure) / August 13, 2022 (scan) Notes: The film rested in unknown conditions, like a letter without an address. "The Angel Doesn’t Ask. She Simply Remembers" (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) 2022.08.11 At Vvedenskoye Necropolis — an angel with flowers leans toward a tomb. We don’t know who lies here. Maybe the name faded. Maybe it never reached us. But someone knows. Perhaps soon, we will too. For now, the gesture remains. Memory doesn’t need a biography. It simply arrives — with flowers, with wings, with shadow. Technical Credits: Vvedenskoye Cemetery Necropolis, Moscow. August 11, 2022, at sunset hour. A white figure bursts from the tombstone. She didn’t vanish. 2022.08.11 The sun nearly gone. Twilight at Vvedenskoye. And suddenly — a white figure of a woman bursts from the tombstone. As if walking through the dark. We don’t know who she is. But she remained. The stone couldn’t hold her. The light couldn’t swallow her. Technical Credits: Vvedenskoye Cemetery Necropolis, Moscow. "Poet. Character. Memory". (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) He’s not the hero, but gave her voice — and now she stands. 2022.08.11 Vvedenskoye Cemetery. On poet Isaac Borisov’s tomb, it’s not his likeness but the heroine of his poems. A girl in Red Army uniform stands as the voice of memory. The inscription — “Don’t say he died. No, he fell in battle” — turns the monument into a poetic manifesto. She’s not the poet. She’s the character he wrote. A face carved in stone, a name borrowed from verse. Now she stands alone — silent, remembered, as if the poem outlived the poet. Technical Credits: Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery. "The Bird That Didn’t Get to Fly" (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) Her name remains. Her face — in stone. All else is guesswork. 2022.08.11 Katyusha Pavlova. 1967–198?. All we know is a name, some years, and a face carved in stone. She left life young, and no one told her story. Maybe she simply lived. Maybe she loved. Maybe she dreamed. But someone placed this stone. Which means — she mattered. At least to one person. Which means — she matters. Technical Credits: Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery. “Trees whisper, crosses hush, statue listens” («Leaves Whisper: “Rest, Dead Ones—We’re Just Ghosts in Light”») The stone remembers what the trees forgot. The angel, slipped off her shoulder, whispers: “Bored of being forever.” Flowers are fake eyes staring into the void where time trips over its own shadow. Here, where the wind’s last name is “Eternity”, every brick of the grave groans: “Why’d you mold me from ash?” And the stone mother, hugging the angel like a loaf of bread, murmurs: “I ain’t crying. I’m just holding the door open.” __ Location: Vvedenskoye Cemetery (Foreign Confessions Cemetery), Lefortovo, Moscow Camera: Nikon Lite Touch Zoom 120 ED (AF) (№3431629) Film: Ilford PAN 400 (expired, storage unknown, exposed at nominal ISO) Development: Kodak D-76 Scanner: Pakon F235+ (no corrections applied — raw scan) Date: October 15, 2018 (exposure) / August 13, 2022 (scan) Notes: The film rested in unknown conditions, like a letter without an address. The statue’s face, carved from ash, stares not at the grave but at a branch where a bird sits, undecided if it’s alive or stone. The angel sleeps, cheek pressed to shoulder—its wings just a crack in the rock. Here, death murmurs: “I ain’t the end. "The Stone Between Them Knows More Than We Do" (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) Two crosses lean toward each other. Light and shadow form a third figure. “She weeps, the crypt listens, the lamp stays silent.” (Kodak Professional Plus-X 125) 2022.08.11 Grief Frozen on the Step. Vvedenskoye Cemetery. Tomb of the Fuld family.
