Mulling a "sensible" daily to take the strain of miles/potholes/weather/motorway slogs off the MX-5, plus a decent boot, since MX-5/RX-7 combo is a bit silly in that respect. Shortlist not that short, quite diverse; in no particular order, A2, Duster, mk1/2 RAV4, W203/204 Merc, mk2 CRV...

Ioniq 6 was the first that sprung to mind for me. New Renault 4 would do it too.
Among more realistic (i.e. I can actually afford) my potential daily options are a bit more varied, with some more boring ones thrown in. W203/204 C-Class, OG RX300, TT TDI, Volvo C30, 2dr RAV4, 11-on Beetle.

Excellent choice. I am a fan of the W203, i think they offer decent, dependable, motoring and actually cool in V6 form. That one looks very nice

The rear arches on W203 let go, but it’s worse the earlier the car is. I have a 2000 6spd M111 which has terrible body rust everywhere, but the 2004 we have in the family is fine
