#WB100
Still one of my favorite #WB100 Project banners.

Felt it was appropriate to use today.

God, I loved those #WB100 Icon pieces I made for the Termite Terrace guys. Just doesn't seem like a year passed since I posted them.

Back when I started the #WB100 Project, I knew I wanted to do customized versions of the WB100 banner that changed the look and colors of the design.

One of the first I did was for Enter The Dragon.

Felt I needed to reshare it here today.

For reasons.

Posted this two years ago as part of the #WB100 Project.

Fitting to celebrate that part of Warner Bros' legacy today on its 29th anniversary.
On March 17, 1997, a better cartoon show premiered on Cartoon Network. A premiere showcase of action cartoons and one of the most influential blocks in television history and pop media. So many stories told & many more celebrated.

We call it Toonami.

Happy 27th. Here's to the future.

Last February, I celebrated #BlackHistoryMonth alongside #WB100 with 29 days worth of WB history. I posted them at Twitter and here at Bluesky. Today, I'm reposting them in a more orderly fashion at Thoughtnami.

Black stories and Black history matter.

I remember when I posted images for Columbia Pictures' 100th anniversary back in 2024, and I made sure I did one for Jeannie.

People thought I was going to go all out on Columbia like I did for the #WB100 Project, and I was like "No... no... no. No. I'm not doing that."

Believe me, I'm well aware of Robert McKimson's career at WB.

When I made my #WB100 #BlackHistoryMonth banners back in 2024, I wanted to reflect the colors of both flags and really wanted to get them right.

I think I did okay.

Nearly 200 shows in the Warner Bros library outside of the previous WB100 x CN30 project I made, and I barely scratched the surface.

One of these days, I'm going to retire using my #WB100 Project pieces in reference to every Warner Bros/Hanna-Barbera series that makes the news or has an anniversary.

Today is not that day.

Happy 60th Anniversary, Space Ghost.

65 years ago tonight, September 30, 1960, The Flintstones, the first primetime animated series advertised and intended for an adult audience, premiered on ABC and became a cultural and generational milestone (no pun intended).

You can catch it on MeTV Toons, Boomerang, Hulu, and Tubi.

I think that was a given.

And trust me, I have heard of Warner Bros Japan.

You... you do remember I did a whole-ass celebration of Warner Bros from April 2023 to April 2024, right?

The #WB100 Project covered a lot, including WB Japan.

Like... a lot.

One of the very few Emmy-winning Looney Tunes projects, and it's one that manages to have fun with the characters. Still 80 episodes in this media climate is a heck of a run.

And yes, I am well aware of Dinah's presentation as a stereotypical Black housemaid. That said, the repeated erasure of Ms. Randolph's vocal performance in the 1960s by MGM and in the 1990s by Turner is disrespectful to the work she had done in those classic shorts.

I was heavily inspired by #WB100 and several other design concepts by @nemalki.bsky.social that I thought of imagining some sort of brand identity concept for Warner Bros. Animation.

The typeface and color from the Saul Bass Big W logo highlights part retro part modern.

Two years ago for #BlackHistoryMonth, I dedicated part of The #WB100 Project to celebrate the stories from Warner Bros's extended history with Black media, including series and studio firsts, starting with The Learning Tree (1969). I put all of those stories on Thoughtnami as well.
Gordon Parks' semi-autobiographical story The Learning Tree was the 1st film made by a Black filmmaker for a major film studio 55 years ago on August 6, 1969.

The coming-of-age film was also one of the 1st to be inducted in the National Film Registry.

While I'm on the subject of Invincible Fight Girl, here's the last of my #WB100 #BlackHistoryMonth Rewind.

I didn't have the show last year, but I definitely had to include it, especially since it was announced within the 1923-2023 window of the Project.

Yes, Warner Bros owns Super Fly and Shaft. And more.

You know, this thread reminded me that I never did a #WB100 banner for Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos.

And you know what?

Pizza is delicious. You guys should try Screamin' Sicilian's pepperoni pizza. Not an ad/paid promotion. It's insanely good.

Oh, and I'm still not making a banner for the show
So, I'm no fan of Chuck Norris but I did used to watch that "Karate Kommandos" so I thought I'd give an episode a look again.
It fucking SUCKED, y'all!

I figured that I should post SOME of what I've created for #WB100 but never published.

There have been several unforeseen circumstances that led me to pause making these tributes (computer issues, the X-ing of Twitter, and the strikes).

I saw some folks retweeting some of my #WB100 x #CN30 pieces. This was the first big extension of my year-long #WB100 Project and a realization that I was going to have fun with it. Over 70 shows made by Cartoon Network Studios for Cartoon Network (not Adult Swim).

I'm still awed by how much I did

I knew when I was making my #WB100 Icons series back in 2023 and 2024, I knew I had to honor Sara. She was talented as sin, could do many dialects and impressions, but never got that love. I wanted to celebrate her in that anniversary year and let folks know who she was.

bsky.app/profile/nema...
You know how Chuck Jones once remarked that "June Foray's not the female Mel Blanc. Mel's the male June Foray" ages ago?

Nah.

Sara Berner was a remarkable voice actress on par with Mel Blanc in range, impressions, and talent as a vocal performer and a singer.

So overlooked by animation fans.
