This got hit a lot during while creating WFRP stuff back in the 80s.

Happy Gnomeday wfrp!

40 years old this month. And a brand new GNOME APPROVED edition available for immdiate purchase from the good people of @cubicle7games.bsky.social

Lovely quality of life improvements to the system. If you’re into Gnomes, or wfrp it’s well worth getting

Pft... if you had just stared into the soul devouring void that was sorcery in RuneQuest the WFRP magic system was clear as mud if not clearer.

@cubicle7games.bsky.social This is why Gnomes always make better genius Private Detectives

When I created my WFRP halfling I informed the GM that I had a Produce Food skill where, provided food scarcity isn't a plot-point, I'll roll D100 then produce food of a quality dependant on the roll from somewhere about my person and start munching on it

This nonsense happens in WFRP all the time so embrace it :D

40 years ago this game rewired my brain. Warhammer Fantasy Role Play, and its classic campaign The Enemy Within, upended notions of heroic, muscle-bound warriors and noble wizards. WFRP was grimy, low fantasy in a world filled with corruption, treachery, and PCs just trying to survive.

Friends two favorite games are SWADE and WFRP4E. Missed me with SWADE, but I am shocked at how much I love WFRP 4E so very hit or miss friend :P

Sadly, WFRP was swiftly overtaken by the juggernaut popularity of Warhammer 40k, and has more or less limped along as a game and property ever since, loved only by devotees. But those of who caught it in its prime will never forget. Raise a glass to the Old World today.

... Buildings with interiors from the Enemy Within and other WFRP 1st edition books is easy to build and store :D ... Maybe after I'm done my current fantasy terrain set and cyberpunk terrain set I'll move on to WFRP buildings.

Being able to have Middenheim, all of it, on the table would be cool.

Sinister goings-on in a rural village. Is it the Archers? No, its my latest review: Death's Dark Shadow. A sourcebook for #WFRP 1st Edition by Carl Sargent, edited by @graemedavis.bsky.social

Review: Death’s Dark Shadow (WFRP 1e)
In my final spooky(ish) review of this Hallowe’en season, I return to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st Edition and one of the final sourcebooks from the marvellous Flame Publications.

I got #WFRP along with the Stormbringer #ttrpg hardback using belated 14th birthday cash from a relative (I think). Triggered a fight with my dad, bless.

I remember being super excited and entranced by it. Cool art. Amazing ideas. Fimir. Bog octopuses.

Then I tried to run it...

Good times.

I've only played WFRP twice, run it both times, but my word was it fun!

Just rereading the core book of WFRP 1st recently and considering running the enemy within in 1st rather than the 2nd I've played a lot.

Also got a copy of Warhammer City that I have been skimming too.

It's far too tempting to make models of all the building floor plans in Warhammer scale...

I’m narcissistically doing a re-read of my coverage of #WFRP 2nd edition on my blog. I rather like my intro piece:

Introduction: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Second Edition
I begin my coverage of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition. This post contains a bit of history, and a summary of the main changes in rules and lore.

Hopped over to this from Fighting Fantasy and loved it. Sadly, however, I have never played any kind of RPG in my life. My town was a nerd desert.

I am tempted to hunt down WFRP again, because it’s a really beautiful thing.

Can’t be WFRP without wild crits.

2.D&D bx / Holmes
3. RuneQuest 2ed
4. RuneQuest 3ed
5. Wfrp 1ed

You plan running some WFRP?
October 26, 2026 at 1:56 AM
In older editions of D&D (at least 3.5) buckler was a +1 AC shield that let you use the bow (clearly the creators confused it with the targe).
Older editions had more varied equipment, altough it still summed up to a static AC score. WFRP has hit and armor locations (so better wear a helmet).

Huzzah! None of my WFRP PCs are too moral to resist a chance to commit identity theft and collect the vast fortune left to the late Kastor Lieberung, who was on his way to collect his inheritance when he was cruelly struck down.

So, the plot hook has two components:
