Today's critter cup (thats wgst I'm calling them) is a South Island tieke. A handfull of them have been reintroduced to the South Island from offshore islands in the last two years. They are poor flyers, but are great at flipping leaves to get bugs.

I’m not a wgst expert so I’m not here to claim expertise (but many of our Gaylor colleagues are! lol) but I am good at pattern recognition and seeing where people are either stepping over each other or confusing two different arguments and this is what I’m seeing.

The Provost insisted that political pressure "had no influence" on this decision. But after he left the meeting, the Dean told us: "I have been concerned for WGST and CRES since January 20 [Trump's inauguration]... we want these disciplines to survive the storm."

A university t.a. in a 400 level wgst class telling me I should make the essay simpler, as in "first paragraph should be your 3 arguments and a sentence that says 'my thesis is'" 5th grade guideline simple. I wish I was kidding. Proff said I was a joy to have in class and she loved it at least.
If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved.

Organized and hosted a Careers in the Humanities alumni event today. We had 11 alums from WGST, history, art history, English, anthropology, and philosophy.

So far there’s been word that Women’s & Gender Studies survives (like many places, WGST has almost no TT faculty of their “own” to cut), as does Philosophy.

Shout out in particular to my WGST proff whose classes were my favourite electives. My Bechdel and videogame avatar videos were actually made for a 300 and 400 level wgst class with her.
