GENTRY DOLAAN- SURGICAL STUDY

Those of you familiar with my #Helldivers2 Webcomic know that Gentry Dolaan (the Main Character) has prosthetic arms. Well, Gentry kept notes, and it goes a little beyond just new arms.

I really will have to thank Ohkam at some point for introducing Me to his work in cybernetics. His designs may only be in beta testing state, but they're endlessly preferable to those cheap claws I started with. and thankfully, I have a fully functional surgical array to implement these new designs with. Lucky me. OPTICAL ARRAYS My grandfather was cyberstanian, so I know better than most the morally slippery slopes that voluntary augmentation represents. That being said, I've always been more curious than cautious, and I'll need every advantage I can get.. I edited the OCTOPODES' injury assessment to indicate that I suffered retinal damage & got a new pair of eyes, thanks to Taxpayers. in addition to curing my astigmatism, i can see into the edge of the infrared and ultraviolet sides of the visual spectrum. ARM BAYS These new hands are significantly stronger, steadier & more precise than my last ones were, but I'm gonna need more than a firm handshake to complete my mission. By using a titanium-aluminum iron alloy, I was able to create an incredibly strong endoskeletal structure, with plenty of room for storage. My forearms are mostly hollow now, and with proper 3m cabling actuating the whole thing, I can not only open and close them at will and with force, but I can also conceal and utilize equipment within them. ...

In the dark, a great wolf-like spirit lays bleeding in the great, clearly in great distress. It's brown-tan fleshy body is covered in grey stone plates not unlike armor, and a brutal wedge-like horn of sharpened steel rises from its brow. From its side, wedged between it's backplates and drooling green blood, is a simple spear. It's eyes, the same glowing green as its blood, are partially closed. By the beast's side is a humanoid figure wearing a farmer's robe, a wooden mask and a straw hat. Their hand rests on the beasts side, protectively, as their masked face is turned towards the village, concerned. At their side is a glowing pouch, the same color as the creature's blood. Super imposed text on the page is as follows: BALANCE Orah, nothing is forever: no village stands eternal, no tower built will not fall, and even our covenant with olan lays broken. Yet, villages fallen can be rebuilt, leaning towers can be strengthened, and covenants broken may yet be renewed. This is the calling of Summoners: To reach out with their will, and free the minds of our jailers, the Spirits Divine. To make new pacts, to free them and us from their Divine Mandate. To keep the balance of nature, that Spirits Will and Spirits Divine may live in peace. This is our truest hope. ORAH.

These are as much tools and symbols of office for a Summoner as they are weapons, Seeing as Summoners acquire quintessence on their wanderings, the weapons wielded by a Summoner are inevitably of superior make than those of ordinary hunters or soldiers, and are often imbued with the elemental powers of the spirits they summon and slay. The best weapon is the one that suits your task, so it is Summoners often carry more than one weapon. SLAYING weapons are killing implements, while SUFFERING weapons injure and maim, slowing down Spirits, making them easier to bind. Some weapons are as simple as a sharpened wooden staff, others as complex as a torsion bow. ORAH, all are useful, if wielded with wisdom and care...

Well, my weekly #World52 art/lore drop is from my #SUMMONERTheWildHunt setting & about such a GODTREE: The mighty OLANBRANCH!

In #Summoner, the world itself is a mighty cosmic tree god, known as OLAN. Hence the truth of the name: these are but it's many BRANCHES.

It's trunk, a mess of knots as smooth as clay and a shade of pale brown, splits just above the roots into two, each trunk twisting about each other in a massive helix reaching upwards into a massive canopy that towers above even the other trees nearby. It's roots, long and snakelike, grow from a rocky spring, a river of cool clear water bursting forth from beneath and over its roots. Resting on it's roots in the bottom right of the picture is a single humanoid figure, a staff in its hand, utterly tiny to the tree that towers hundreds of feet above its head. Flying around it are three bird-like spirits, whose plumage and wings glow a supernaturally bright shade of yellow, and clambering over the stones on the far side of the tree is a massive stone spirit, shaped like a turtle with ice growing from it's back. Superimposed on the painting, in ink that fades from green to yellow, is the following words: OLANBRANCH Orah, while the power of the great spirit is everpresent, there are places where the shadow of it's might is truly inescapable. Nowhere is that more true than at the foot of an OLANBRANCH. Found only in the deep, Olanbranches take the shape of great trees with two intertwined trunks. Branches grow from where the elements are at their most unchained, such as from out of lava flows, on the peaks of mountains, at the heads of springs, or the depths of deep canyons, and they always lord over even the tallest trees. Olanbranches are revered for their amazing medicinal and spiritual qualities. tea made from it's roots can wake the dead, and ashes from its wood can forge the purest steel. Yet only the most desperate search for Olanbranch, for they they are guarded jealously by the most vicious and mighty of spirits, deeper in the forests than any but the most skilled or reckless of Summoners dare to tread.
