And it was WWI, not II!

No one can quash the legacy of the Tuskegee Airman.

Same for the Buffalo Soldiers.

That unit was sent to West Point from 1907-1947 to replace an undisciplined white unit. During segregation, they trained all the white officers who fought in WWI & II & they built a legacy.

We know their story.

How dare you. Our boys drank that in WWI and II.

Image the current population asked to make actual wartime ration sacrifices like in WWI and II.
Covid is gonna shape American politics for years and years because it was the first time most Americans were asked to make sacrifices and they lost their minds because of it.
That's kinda the vibe of so many folks I grew up near (South Texas) of the older generations.

They legitimately were changed by the COVID chaos. They went from being like, generous Christians to being locked inside their giant homes screeching about Fauci.

This is the problem.

Shed no tears for Maduro but mourn a rules based (imperfect as it was) international order.

Do we want a return to the conditions that sparked WWI and II?

Trump II effectively building a pop-up police state with ICE as a form of Stasi is both very distressing and like not unprecedent, the similarities to the WWI era Wilsonian security/police state are marked

Kaiser Wilhelm II makes his "I recognize no political parties, only Germans!" speech at the outbreak of WWI and the SPD doesn't take the bait
“what if the Nazis won WWII” alt history is boring — I wanna know your “what if JFK hadn’t been shot” alt history

Note to Americans. In WWI and II when the Brits had a particularly bloody battle to fight where they knew a lot of men may be lost they sent in the Canadians FIRST and the Canadians took that challenge on and won. We're not weak.

Wildfires burning across Europe have exposed a potentially deadly threat lurking beneath the blackened landscape: rusty bombs and mines from World War I and II.

having inherited the world historical circumstances that would ultimately lead to WWI, Ludwig II looked at all that and said “I’m going to check out and be a hikikomori funko pop guy but for Richard Wagner” — definitely a type who still walks among us today

Buy books about African American History, the Holocaust, the American Revolution, Civil War, War of 1812, the American Indian Wars, WWI and II, Korea, Vietnam, all of it. Bu the time they are done they will have rewritten history and tried to eliminate all the books. We are living in insane times.

I find it strange how often people call WWI "dumb"--as in both the politics that led up to it and the way it was fought.

There were certainly staggeringly incompetent monarchs (Wilhelm II, Nicholas II) and generals (Cadorna, Hotzendorf), but the dynamics are no different than most wars in history.

It's wild how you can go to any small town in Scotland and find a monument to men who died in WWI (and II), and the list for WWI is SO long, even for tiny little towns and villages.

Given the trauma of WWI & II, Europe saw itself as its greatest threat. The refusal to invest in defense was a moral & ideological choice, not a mercantile one, meant to keep the world safe.

That paradigm collapsed in 2008 when 🇷🇺 invaded 🇬🇪
Yet 🇪🇺 leaders still refuse to grasp the new reality

Man they held unofficial boat races during WWI and II, when this country was actually at fucking war, unlike now
April 4, 2026 at 10:13 AM
The phrase "the First World War" actually predates World War II, in the sense of "the first of its kind", so if you time-travelled between WWI and WWII and referred to the former as "World War I", you wouldn't necessarily out yourself, but people WOULD be thinking "what an odd way to phrase that".

Taking a mental health day with my equally mentally unstable doggo!
(These lovely river rock walls run through the woods around here & can be from as old as Rev War era right up to training trenches for WWI & II, which was big in this wild area of NY).#DogsOfBlueSky

The French may be accused of having loose morals but they have a strong moral compass. Their own revolution, WWI&II, helping the US during the revolutionary war, standing by Ukraine, and most recently, trying to make amends by returning stolen artefacts to former colonies.
