The fog cleared this afternoon so off we went on a ride across Exmoor to Watchet (the hills are so steep even the electric bikes couldnt cope😭) but what a cute town so 'country' it was deserted bc everythings closed on a Sunday! Lovely harbour with absolutely lethal sinking mud😳

The fog cleared this afternoon so off we went on a ride across Exmoor to Watchet (the hills are so steep even the electric bikes couldnt cope😭) but what a cute town so 'country' it was deserted bc everythings closed on a Sunday! Lovely harbour with absolutely lethal sinking mud😳

My father took this back in July 86 at Watchet Carnival, i was there aged 3, Years later i emailed Prowse's agent who denied he ever been. Recently i tried local FB and dozens told me its him, got his autograph, made him a cup of tea for him etc. Thats way too good cosplay for 86 and BTLC posters

Looking more into it i think its likely an official touring costume (they made a few) he's wearing that was used for meet and greets, TV, or selling toys etc. But 99% confident its him after speaking to so many in Watchet who remember him

Feel like Watchet had more going on in the junk/vintage/antiques/old books space than I managed to get to the bottom of last time I was out that way.

Several priority sections are still available on the Somerset coast, including Hinckley (where there is a regular small flock of Purple Sandpiper), either side of Watchet, and west of Minehead.

#MolluscMonday: the Early Jurassic ammonite Psiloceras planorbis from Watchet on the Somerset coast, a locality visited by Mary Anning in 1832 (this is not one of her specimens, although she would have been familiar with these fossils and their iridescent shells).
