Same

Jumping spiders are amazing and I am okay with the others for their pest control benefits but unexpected spider WAUGH still happens regularly

Still trying/failing to achieve similar equanimity about house centipedes, though

Yes, I find the use of the Evelyn Waugh quote (“Mr. Wodehouse’s idyllic world can never stale…”) on pretty much every book cover a bit predictable, but they use it because it’s true

So many wildly popular authors who are now almost completely unread. Walter Scott, Hugh Walpole, Dornford Yates spring to mind. DH Lawrence and Evelyn Waugh perhaps heading that way too.
Said this before, but you could write an interesting book on the books/films/music that were huge in their time but rapidly disappeared from any collective knowledge. Only hardly anyone would read it, because they wouldn't recognise them.
This is undoubtedly true and I think a lot of companies have bet heavily on IP on the mistaken understanding that there are "forever" characters or acts, when they're subject to quite rapid decay.

Although Evelyn Waugh had a comedy bit about preservationists in "Decline And Fall" (1928) so it was becoming a thing, possibly due to distaste at the new modernist architecture.

with all due respect to my Anglican friends, liturgically demoting a Doctor for being impolite is a scene from some forgotten Waugh satire on the Church of England
Fun fact! Jerome is the only one of the pre-Reformation Doctors of the church to be a mere commemoration, rather than a lesser festival (so he has no official collect), largely because his personality was so obviously really unpleasant…
In later medieval iconography, he is often depicted as a cardinal – as in the predella of the Ringsaker altarpiece – although he is most commonly known as ‘presbyter’, priest.
There are many sources to Jerome’s cult in the Norse sphere, but he does not seem to have had a very high standing.

Indie spotlight: Revenge Runs Red by Damien Waugh is out today. Grimdark debut about an exiled general repaid for his service in slaughter. Self-published, genuinely worth your money if this lane is yours. Anyone already grabbed it?
