Just Because Department: The USWB did not recognize fronts on their weathermaps until August 1, 1941. USWB weathermap analysis was influenced by the Norwegian meteorologists when U.S. analysts began sneaking in kinks in the isobars by 1936 where fronts were located! @ametsoc.org

Thought this was interesting, most teletext decoder chips have a luma output, intended for B&W TVs or printers.
Basically it makes everything pure white or black, and ignores background colours.
Also makes the weathermap completely incomprehensible.
