Highest wind gust ever recorded in my town was 100mph last weekend. 2nd highest wind storm gust was yesterday at 93mph. The 100mph is what knock the power out for 66 hours. #weathernerd

“DENDRITES!” That’s what @MattNoyes blurted out at dinner - then ran outside to film a snowy teachable moment. 🤣
Ever wonder why big, fat flakes pile up fast? It’s all about the snow crystal type…
Watch & learn...or if you already know, share the joy!

An amazing looking supercell thunderstorm captured by photographer Brett Wright (@brettwrightphoto).

This clip was shot near Sidney, Nebraska, on June 7, 2026.

Supercells are powerful, rotating thunderstorms known for producing severe weather, incl. tornadoes, large hail & strong winds.

Actually I do think the “success” that I had on #twitter was prompted by having an #Afro and then not being shy about showing my ass. The content came later. But the hook to get people was the hair. I’m just not wearing it like that now. So I guess I’m stuck. I’m just a #weathernerd. #hashtags

Kiddo the younger (9) has a wax museum in his 3rd grade class today. Being the weather fanatic he is, he chose to be Tetsuya (Ted) Fujita, who developed the Fujita scale for classifying tornados. #weathernerd

Lenticular clouds are my favorite clouds. These ones are deteriorating because they are being pushed east of the peak as the sun rises (diurnal wind influence?) but they're still awesome #highwindsaloft #weathernerd
