Definetely closely watching the AOI in the EPAC. Landfall somewhere in Mexico appears likely. Could be of the stronger variety and a major hurricane landfall is a possibility. Thankfully tracking over quite a cold pool on its way to coast.

For those not on the other site, a good reminder from Matt Onderlinde (NHC scientist and weathernerds.org creator) about a quirk of the ECMWF tracker for systems originating west of 90⁰W longitude. I like the 100-member ECMWF probabilities as well here --> charts.ecmwf.int/products/med...

And with the 15z advisories -- #Hurricane #Imdelda & #Humberto are just 479 miles apart.

This might be the closest two simultaneous hurricanes have ever been in the Atlantic basin in the satellite era (since ~1975).

Close enough for their outer sfc circulations to interact as well.

And shoutouts to @burgwx.bsky.social @bmcnoldy.bsky.social and Weathernerds for their work on all the great viz and data sharing they do for the community.

Staggeringly, it seems Hurricane #Milton is still strengthening. Data from the latest pass of the Air Force’s Hurricane Hunter suggests wind speeds of 185mph and pressure now below 900mb.

Yesterday it was a tropical storm. It is now one of the most intense hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic.

The "red" disturbance looks pretty harmless, according to the ensembles (via Weathernerds).

But there's the new "yellow" disturbance coming off the coast of Africa that will now be watched (via NHC).

The situation regarding Invest 95W is quite interesting. The two (experimental) google ensembles on weathernerds seem to really like this system and its prospects for impacting Japan. EPS is sort off lukewarm. GFS operational likes it but its ensemble not really. (1/2) #tropicswx

Large parts of Visayas & Mindanao are currently experiencing rainshowers due to the formation of isolated thunderstorms.

The thunderstorms could cause flooding and land slide from prone areas susceptible to these hazards during periods of heavy downpours ...
Proper caution is advised.

Any other #weathernerds out there? I’ve been a CoCoRaHS observer for several years, and it’s a fun way to contribute with citizen science!
big news from CoCoRaHS world: the new mobile app is now available, and it's also a mobile version of the website. Very slick for entering your obs & viewing data.

I bet a large fraction of new followers here are not CoCoRaHS observers, no better time than now to join!

The low pressure system near Surigao del Norte is now unlikely to form into a tropical storm due to the presence of the shearline.

Invest 90W/WP90 is likely to develop into a strong typhoon and pass very near and/or south of #Guam in about five days.

Regional hurricane models (HWRF, HAFS) have not been initialized yet. JMA has already designated it a tropical depression.

A strong phase 2-3 MJO may lead to a rare scenario of quadruple TC genesis (2x equatorially symmetric) in the Indian Ocean in the upcoming weeks, as shown most prominently by the GFS.

Mammatus clouds from a thunderstorm 40 miles away. As I took photos, two people stopped to ask about the clouds. Maybe they'll become #WeatherNerds, too. #Weather #WX
