1. The Xteink X4 is so cute

2. It's so cool you can just ask an LLM for a firmware feature

3. To flash the community firmware, you just go to xteink.dve.al and click flash, thanks to WebUSB

It's so sad Firefox doesn't implement WebUSB. Better UX *and* better security than downloading an exe.

Very pleased to see Web Serial API! 🤞for WebNFC and who knows maybe even WebUSB or WebBluetooth down the line.
Firefox 151 is out now, and brings with it some tasty new web platform features:

🎉 Container style() queries
🎉 Web Serial API
🎉 Document Picture-in-Picture API
🎉 keyboardLock on requestFullscreen

…and more!

Nobody:

Absolutely nobody:

My mind: Huh so node-usb implements WebUSB. One can compile node-usb to Wasm. node-usb uses libusb. libusb has Wasm backend. Wasm backend uses WebUSB. WebUSB is implemented via libusb on some platforms [...]

Add WebUSB Support To Firefox With a Special USB Device
Add WebUSB Support To Firefox With a Special USB Device
The WebUSB standard is certainly controversial. Many consider it a security risk, and, to date,  only Chromium-based browsers support it. But there is a workaround that is, ironically, supposed to …read more

I've been using adc to pick up the audio from the Gameboy CPU for my webusb app. I think it's time to move on, there's just to much static noise that no lowpass filter could fix

I don't want to have to use chromium to install grapheneos :<

Take a Joy-Con and connect it with WebHID, draw a picture in the air and capture it with the sensors. Create an SVG path and insert in the DOM. Apply CSS styling. Sample the DOM and use WebUSB to convert to ILDA and send it to a laser projector.

I created the worlds most complicated laserpointer…

Smoke machine powered by CSS!

Fully based on web platform tech, such as WebUSB for the DMX connection and CSS for controlling everything.

My projects can sometimes get a little bit out of hand. Want to know more? Come see my talk at @beyondtellerrand.com!

"I've got to say the WebUSB installer is one of the simplest experiences ever."

Yes, yes it is.
Installed GrapheneOS on my old Pixel 6 out of curiosity and I've got to say the WebUSB installer is one of the simplest experiences ever. All custom roms should do this. Also wished other browser engines would get on board with these APIs. I get that there's an extra risk, but we can work it out.
