This is a view of the rear of a brick built, flat roofed commercial building in a local market town. It is shot from ground level and the building almost fills the frame with a small area of blue sky above it. The main and larger section, on the left, has a small brick chimney stack just visible above the edge of the roof, which has a black gutter running along it leading to a black down pipe that drops down the right side of the section to the ground. It also has a small, white rectangular window at the top right and a large, grey, rectangular slatted double door at ground level, with two black metal posts in front of it. The black down pipe runs between the main section and the smaller right hand section which is in 2 parts, each stepping back from the main section. The left side of this section has a large rectangular window on the top floor and a smaller rectangular window at ground floor level.

This image shows two small boys (my now teenage sons) as they walk away from the camera, hand in hand, with the older one (almost 5 years old) on the right carefully leading the younger one (almost 2 years old). We were on holiday at Center Parcs and were walking along a tarmacced track through the woods towards the swimming pool. It was March so they are wearing jackets and jeans and the older one has been entrusted with the younger one’s R2D2 soft toy. Happy memories.

This image shows the congregation, from the rear, at a special service being held at the beautiful Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire. The image was taken from the back of the congregation with the priests visible in white robes at the front. Although most of the abbey is in ruins this section has retained its magnificent vaulted ceiling and we can see the ribs clearly from the foreground of the image to the background of the image where they appear to compress. The scene is partly lit artificially - giving the vaulted ceilings a yellow and green palette - and partly by sunlight streaming through the tall, arched windows all down the sides of the hall and in the distant end wall.
