This image shows the front elevation of the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall a beautiful Yorkshire manor house, nestled on the quiet banks of the River Rye. It is famed for its picturesque location, organic walled garden with spring-flowering meadows, flamboyant resident peacocks and a changing programme of year round art and photography exhibitions. The image shows it as a 3 storey (but it also has a basement) grand country house, with blue sky above it with some slight cloud streaks. The house is framed such that the ground floor level sits on the horizontal centre line of the frame with the foreground all lawned, except for a deck chair positioned close to the camera. The house is light sandstone with light grey slate roof with the main ridge running across the frame. Towards each end it has 2 wings that sit out from the main area and each has a pitched roof with the ridge running towards us. The main door is in the centre of the house and the frame and is surrounded by 8 windows, 4 on each floor with another door - with a balcony - directly above the main door. Each of the wings has 5 larger windows with the top one in the attic space. Behind this main elevation there are signs of other parts of this building which is a considerable size. My family and I holiday most years in this area and have enjoyed many happy days here, trying to play croquet and wandering through the gardens.

Several of many traffic calming devices deployed on my street

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekSforSongs #photography #roads #signs #beanies
A low street sign in a traffic island on a busy road. The sign has a black beanie on the top of the pole. The sign is seen from an angle, only the silver reverse side is seen. The traffic island is brick with some weeds growing in it. The road had other traffic calming devices in view. On the far side of the road is the same sign, seen side on and a taller sign pole. It is an overcast afternoon so the scene looks a bit gloomy, and slightly blurry.

All Tractors Ain't Green by Jimmie Allen (2018)

A child's plastic toy tractor lying in a gutter. The tractor is small, red with black wheels, and is upside down. It is damaged, looks as if it has been run over. The gutter is made from sandsstone blocks, and some individual blocks can be seen. In the gutter are dead leaves and other detritus. The image has been cropped on this platform.

Morning Glory (Ipoamoa) growing in a raised bed by empty outdoor café tables, a furled green parasol and chairs at a National Trust house in Sussex. The leaves of the plant, sometimes known as purple Convolvulus, are heart-shaped or three-lobed. Flowering from early summer into autumn the blooms are funnel-shaped, 3-6cm in diameter and deep purple to bluish-purple. The garden is flanked by wooden storage sheds and, above that, many trees that are gaining their fresh green summer foliage. Camera: iPhone 15 Pro.

A Great Tit balances on one of four telephone wires running towards the terrace of houses where I live. The bird’s black-capped head, with white cheeks, is looking down towards the feeder in my driveway, the morning sun lighting its yellow underparts. The dark tail protrudes backwards to the left, helping the bird to balance. Soon it will swoop down, hoping for a snack. Bring Me Sunshine
Morecambe and Wise

The sun’s rays shaft both up towards a blue sky and down to a river estuary, turning the water golden orange, the darker clouds a light yellow at the rim, as it sets behind the Welsh coast. A few small boats lie at anchor at low tide and in the foreground the grassy banks of the Wirral shore are in shadow as evening approaches. The atmosphere is one of peaceful rest after a warm early autumn day in a place where my ancestors walked on both shores. Camera: iPhone 5s. October 2018.

A tight cluster of Forget-MeNots (Brunnera macrophylla) bursts into bloom in this close-up shot, nestled like a jewel among broad, bristle-covered leaves. The petals radiate an intense cobalt blue with a subtle shift toward violet-purple in the still-unopened buds at the center. Each floret features a crisp white eye with a tiny dark pupil, while one bud reveals a warm golden-yellow center that adds a brief flash of complementary warmth against the cool blue. The leaves dominate the frame with bold tactile presence: elongated, softly fringed with fine hairs that catch the light and lend the foliage a velvety quality. The dark, charcoal-toned stems and calyx sharpen the luminosity of the petals by contrast. Tight macro framing places the flower cluster off-center, with overlapping leaves filling every corner, creating the sense of a vivid bloom pushing up through a dense, thriving habitat.
