single from #MahanEsfahani 's Bk 1 of #WellTemperedClavier: Prelude in F minor, in style of an allemande...played on double-manual German harpsichord (made by Huw Saunders) a modern-day *copy* of an instrument thought to have belonged to #JSBach himself

#morninglistening to #AngelaHewitt (@angejsb), Canada's second gift to Bach, in her 2nd recording is the WellTemperedClavier. I feel about it a bit like I feel about crumpets: jam with it! Such delightfully trist C-sharp major.

#morninglistening to AngelaHewitt's #WellTemperedClavier (thanks, #JSBach!) on @hyperion. The earlier, 1997-99, recording on a Steinway. Bach - and nothing but the notes, as proponents laud it. I get that, esp. in book 2, but my favorites lie elsewhere.

My secret weapon to focus under pressure. There's is no bad news in this world that i couldn't survive as long as he is with me. Anyone agree?

Excellent new article by @markclavier-author.bsky.social on Substack about #Tolkien and #Anglicanism.
