Agree that it should be better. A premade concrete form could be used to pour larger wheelstops on site.

I agree the path should be wider, but not to remove the barriers.

Wheelstops won't physically stop a car, but they are a visual deterrent. And they do stop cars from bike lane parking forcing bikes to unexpectedly merge with cars. This kind of obstruction is rampant in the other areas of the 101

Apart from intersections, the main goals is to make the road feel narrower. Do this with strategically-placed "bump outs" (Big concrete planters would also work for this). You could add speed bumps too. What works best is a combination of all of these things.
