#WhereWhereWedgie
Thought we had planned this perfectly - morning survey from the balcony at this gorgeous farm stay but unfortunately 99% of the square is on the other side of that hill!
Oh well 2 wedgies on the way in is a great sign for tomorrow!

Great day out for #WhereWhereWedgie surveys on Bruny Island. Consider this square #239 next year if you are looking for an easy intro to the surveys.
Start at the neck campsite, stop at the chocolate shop and the cafe. End at the gin distillery! Winning!! 🦅🦅🦅

I had a double whammy for my 1st round, with a young white-bellied sea-eagle chasing a flock of sulphur-crested cockatoos. We survey for all raptors & the 3 white cockatoo species.
The landscapes always look incredible when you’re doing these surveys. Hope you can join in too.

Chasing up the last few #WhereWhereWedgie records & reminiscing over some good survey days, eg these views of battling Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagles at the start of one of my 10-minute scans.
(After landing out of sight, both eventually flew off in opposite directions).

Not in Tasmania? Please help spread the word to those who are. More surveys mean we can discover more, with more certainty, with the survey data 🦅

Bookings for #WhereWhereWedgie 2025 surveys are now open. If you're in #Tasmania for any or all of 9-11 & 23-25 May, consider booking a survey square today.
There's a good chance you'll spot a bird of prey; in any case, you'll definitely have a memorable, rewarding day...

Fab view of a brown goshawk from our couch just then. Did I mention how much I love our old Blackwood tree & all the wildlife it attracts & shelters in inner city #Hobart, #Tasmania? It was interested in us too! #bird

I gave a presentation on #WhereWhereWedgie at the #CitSciOz23 conference last week; then at the pub got to sneak in a 20 min podcast interview about NatureTrackers, with the excellent Citizen Science Show!
