#Ballerina is a really well-done spinoff, maintaining everything that’s worth loving about the Wickverse with a very strong new direction. Ana de Armas is an inspired casting and does even better in an action film than I would have thought. Very hopeful to see more of this new assassin. Grade: A-

Stahelski & Co. weren't involved in that series at all and despite the fact that it supposedly did decent numbers for Peacock, Stahelski nuked the show as soon as he gained full creative control of the Wickverse as part of his new deal with Lionsgate.

I Enjoyed the Hell out of #Ballerina. While It's Not Perfect like the Mainline Films, It's still Still Fun as Fuck, and Provides what You’d Expect from a Wickverse Film.

The action is slick and brutal if occasionally spoilt by CGI bloody. But De Annas holds her own to Reeves how much can one person take stakes 1/2

Ballerina explodes with Wickverse flair and creative kills but the repetitive plot spins in place (see what I did there) and the performances have no gravitas. Keanu’s cameo was juuust long enough to make me miss his doggo. One Thumb Up for stylish action, one Thumb Down for lack of substance. 👍👎🩰

That said I actually do think the sequels constantly reiterate that we should like John because he's the closest thing to a NG character in the Wickverse crime underworld. He is gentle to the innocent, ferocious to the guilty, and rarely takes anything personally.

It is kind of goofy how much at this point the Wickverse goon underworld is apparently populated entirely by two distinct castes of being: Unstoppable Murder Protagonists formed by long years of trauma, and homunculi with no self preservation instinct given life from cigarette butts & club wear.

Just watched Ballerina, man that film is so good. Great to see they haven't forgotten that the occasional bit of silliness is essential to the Wickverse.

The movies' lore is crazy. It's basically a modern fantasy world like WoD but without any supernatural elements except for people amazing skill at committing crimes

Can't wait for you to see the second one where it REALLY starts to take off. I think the Helluva cast&Wickverse would synergize well.

Watched ~90% of the John Wick Ballerina movie on a flight, it had some good moments, some fun choreography, some nonsense plotting even by Wickverse standards,

But the whole thing is brought *way* down by one shitty writing decision.
