#WildWekivaWednesday
🌴🐝 This #WildWekivaWednesday during #PollinatorWeek, we want to highlight the importance of our fellow pollinator pals.

🌸 From bees to butterflies, (and even bats!), pollinators help our ecosystem thrive, and keep our wildflowers and citrus groves blooming! 🌿✨

That is not your boo 👏 🪶

The Anhinga, often nicknamed snakebird, is a Florida waterbird that swims with only its long neck and head above water, looking like a snake ready to strike 🐍

Follow some of this bird's fun facts on this #WildWekivaWednesday and stay tuned for next week's trivia!

This Little Blue Heron is in its awkward "teenage" phase, shown by the patchy white spots on its wings as it transitions into its slate-blue plumage.  🪶

Unlike egrets that like to group up, Little Blue Herons often hunt alone. Giving full-on loner teen angst out here!

🪻 Send these flowers to your future volunteer buddy! 🧤

🪻These Prairie Blazing Star are not native to Florida, but do thrive in many of Florida's varied ecosystems. We sure love the pop of color they add to our hikes!

🌿 Happy #WildWekivaWednesday ! 💚

🌿 Damselflies are smaller and slender than dragonflies, and also rest with their wings folded upward as opposed to having them perpendicular to their bodies.

🔍 Can you identify this fellow? Challenge yourself next time you're outdoors!

🌿 This #WildWekivaWednesday, we bring you the Black Swallowtail caterpillar (Papilio polyxenes) 🐛

🐛 When threatened this little guy pops out orange "horns" called osmeteria behind its head, and releases a smelly chemical to frighten off predators. 😤

Fabulous and Foul! 💫
