Rush Aster produces fruits that fly. The small fruits are dry, rather than fleshy, and they have tufts of hairs at the tip that help them become airborne. Unfortunately for the plant, its seeds sometimes get eaten by weevils before they can fly away. #WildflowerWednesday

Green-Flowered Wintergreen has greenish-white coloured flowers that are evergreen, remaining green right through the winter. Once spring arrives, the plants begin photosynthesizing immediately, because they don't need to grow new leaves.

It was lovely to see a pretty honeysuckle flower blooming in the October sunshine after the rain. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone. 💛

It’s another #WildflowerWednesday - these popped out after our recent inch or so of rain and are everywhere — I think it’s a siena but am not sure which.

I'm trying to be better and switch all my planting to native plants. I want scenes like this around the house!

The American Black Currant has smooth, small, and reddish-purple to black berries. Gooseberries and currants are both in the "Ribes" genus, but to see the difference, look if there are spines, thorns, or prickles. If so, it’s a gooseberry, but if not, then it's a currant! #WildflowerWednesday
