Making Win9X UI in C++ sucks, so I used HTML

The Settlers III [1998], one of my all-time favourite Win9x games, absolute classic!

This card just works, even in DOS, but… there is no Win9X driver available. This badly limits its usefulness for me🫠

The fun continues: Windows 98SE works so well on this machine, perfect Win9x era gaming beast of a laptop!
(Working great with the patch and 1GB of DDR)

Vortex86-based mini PCs have been on LGR before, but let's go back to the 2008 original!

The DMP eBox is built for legacy industrial use and natively runs DOS and Win9x! It's also inexpensive, selling for a fraction of what newer Vortex86 DX projects cost. So what's the catch?

win9x defrag was the more satisfying screensaver

okay I beat the hazard course. my laptop is trying to melt emulating a whole win98 machine. So I'll not play the whole campaign right now. I'll have to get out a real win9x machine for that.

i was so good and did not buy a suitable-for-win9x computer yesterday

Siân's been sitting on this good news all day!

And yes, of course I created a version that can be used as replacement for the shutdown screen on your Win9x box. You should know me by now! Downloadable from my website.

I've decided on 512MB of SD-RAM, not too excessive and OK with Win9x. It posts so that's a good thing 👍

The "hlt" instruction is privileged. Do Win9x apps just run in kernel mode

Windows 2000. Built on NT, still has Win9x elements enough to serve as a solid home use system.

Trying to get Theme Park World (released as Sim Theme Park in the US) running on any PC newer than the Windows 98 machine I originally had it for was and probably still is a nightmare because it was only ever built to function on Win9x machines and IIRC they never went back to fix it.
Most effort you gave to run a game on PC?

This is just for fun with VM.
I made another quick wallpaper, this time for my "Win9X" (Project 2k ISO), running on vmware.

It's not a completely perfect modification, but for retro gaming it's actually perfect for me. Practically no limits for what I need.

Windows NT would refer to the NT kernel based versions of Windows, Chicago would refer to the Win9x kernel based versions of Windows.

After Windows XP, there was no functional distinction between the two - everything was Windows NT.
