Staff Reporter POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at a Chinese hardware store in Karibib after three suspects allegedly held two residents at gunpoint and made off with cash and valuables worth thousands of dollars. According to the Namibian Police weekend crime report, the incident occurred on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at about 19:50 at a Chinese hardware store opposite Woermann Brock in Karibib. Police said three men entered the property, with one allegedly armed with a pistol or revolver and the other two carrying pangas. The suspects allegedly restrained two Chinese nationals who reside inside the store by tying their hands with cable ties before searching the living quarters and demanding cash and valuables. The suspects reportedly escaped with approximately N$150 000 in cash, two cellphones — an iPhone 17 Pro and a Huawei P17 — as well as two waist bags containing personal documents, including passports, an FNB bank card and Chinese-branded cigarettes. Staff Reporter THE Namibian Police (NamPol) made a number of drug-related arrests over the weekend, particularly in the Erongo Region, including one linked to cocaine worth more than N$60,000. One incident involved the arrest of two men, aged 35 and 41, in Swakopmund, Erongo Region, on Saturday. According to the police, the suspects were arrested in Swakopmund’s Mondesa location, next to Woermann Brock, for dealing in crack cocaine. Officers confiscated crack cocaine valued at N$62,400. In another incident, also in Swakopmund on Saturday, a 25-year-old woman was arrested in the DRC location for possession of cannabis valued at N$4,700. The police also arrested a 30-year-old man in Walvis Bay, Erongo Region, on Saturday for possession of three halves and four full mandrax tablets. He was arrested in the Cape Flats, Narraville location. However, not all drug-related arrests took place in the Erongo Region. In Omitara, Omaheke Region, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Friday for cannabis possession. Police said the suspect was arrested at the Omitara T-junction after being found in possession of 27 mandrax tablets and a bag of cannabis. The drugs were reportedly discovered in his jacket during a roadblock search. In another incident, a 33-year-old man was arrested for possession of mandrax in Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, on Friday. A police search led to the discovery of 35 mandrax tablets. In a separate case, a 24-year-old man was arrested for possession of cannabis in Tsumeb, Oshikoto Region, on Saturday. The suspect allegedly discarded a plastic bag containing cannabis when he noticed police officers and tried to flee. He was apprehended, and cannabis along with N$1,130 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, was confiscated. Meanwhile, in Rehoboth, Hardap Region, two men aged 30 and 61 were arrested in Block G on Saturday after being found in possession of cannabis valued at N$4,250.
