📅Oct 21, 1970 The first women's liberation demonstration took place in Tokyo, sparking a new wave of feminist movement in the country. The protest demanded legalizing contraception & opposition to the prohibiting of abortion. The pill was legalized in 1999.

Katherine received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2015. She also received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2019 and was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 2021.
In 2017, NASA named a computing facility after her.
