The Green Children of Woolpit certainly deserve a blue (or green?) plaque
Should folklore legends have their own blue plaques in the landscape? Foster pride in local folklore. This is the only one I can find. There are are a few non-blue plaques from decades ago, of course. Morningside Hanging Stones, for e.g.

A sad-eyed faithful friend, one of the many animal bench end carvings at Woolpit, Suffolk. But is this one of the c1500 originals, or a copy from the 1860s by that expert Ipswich-based master craftsman Henry Ringham?

I just want people to know the Woolpit Fish & Chip shop is INSANELY good, I grew up with it and even if Woolpit didn't have the Green Children, the fish & chip shop would make it worth visiting www.stowmarkettakeaways.co.uk/woolpitfisha...
i have seen tourists eating sad fish & chips in the centre of London today so i want to give some advice on how to eat good fish & chips if you’re ever visiting the UK

a) never ever in the centre of a big city. it will never be good.

Very early lunch in Woolpit, just passing through.

Was in Woodbridge much earlier, last pic, rarely seen with no body on the Thoroughfare.

Travis and Jason Kelce were found as small children near Woolpit, Ohio, with green skin and leaves in their hair, speaking only of how they came from a mysterious world 'beyond the forest.' Adopted by a kindly family, they gradually adapted to the world of men.

The #folktale from 12th century England, “The Green Children of Woolpit”. Two children show up in the village of Woolpit with green skin. They say they’re from a land that only has twilight. Explanations include refugee orphans with anemia, an experience with the fae, aliens, and copper exposure.

Apologies for straying off topic but the first House Martins and Swallows are now arriving back & Suffolk is bone dry. If you have an open field then create a mud splat and keep it moist until we have rain. This is a big one in Woolpit @sbghousemartins.bsky.social @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social
