i think she's structurally there for gameplay but in the actual wordlbuilding, she's not a retainer even at the end of story and you can really feel that in her endings. she does not stay involved in politics at all unless she marries claude.

In general, I'm enjoying my time a lot with the series and if you like RPGs with a lot of wordlbuilding, cool combat and character development this series is genuinely fantastic

I agree with this partially. The introduction does a good job laying out her motivations and wordlbuilding. However, I still felt the tutorial part was dragged out too much. I felt the story doesn’t get going until after the trial and death. Character relations can be established more efficiently

OH! Also! Sylvie Cathrall's THE ART OF CHARMING A CHANGELING which I got to blurb. I adore the way Cathrall writes neurodivergent characters and romances. Florrie's sensory issues also made me feel *incredibly* seen. And the wordlbuilding is a delight.
Definitely the version of "police/esque person that's also magical" that has the best wordlbuilding. "There was a magical section of the police, and it's been in slow decline. Now magic is coming back to everyone'$ attention & NOBODY is happy about it" really adds something fun to the setup.
