Celebrate Reinhard Döhl’s concrete poem “Apfel”! In Spanish-speaking classrooms, I replace the German words APFEL and WURM with MANZANA and GUSANO while preserving the poem’s visual form. Fifth-graders love it! #NationalAppleDay #WorldEarthwormDay #NationalDayofWriting @ncte.org #WhyIWrite

On #WorldEarthwormDay🪱 we shine a spotlight on these incredible underground engineers and the vital role they play in keeping ecosystems healthy. The Earthworm Society of Britain trains people to identify and record earthworms, and shares 20,000+ verified earthworm records through the nbnatlas.org

Did you know that earthworms are under-recorded in NI?

It might be because there are over 20spp, often identified by counting segments! Most also live underground.

You may also see the New Zealand Flatworm - let us know on CEDaR Online Recording or the iRecord app!

Happy #WorldEarthwormDay2025!
Though common garden earthworms (lumbricus terrestris) sound less grand than tiger worms (eisenia fetida, a specific type of earthworm), Wriggle Room's striped inhabitants wish for all worms to live together in peace and solidarity

Pleased to be part of this important letter led by @cmarin.bsky.social @thegsbi.bsky.social, calling for greater global action to protect soil biodiversity! A timely publication also because today is #WorldEarthwormDay 🌍🪱
.@cmarin.bsky.social and 127 co-authors present a global call to strengthen national #SoilBiodiversity action, in an #OpenLetter to policymakers at 27th meeting of the @unbiodiversity.bsky.social SBSTTA taking place in Panamá City this week.
