DYK Antarctic krill annually store the equivalent of carbon produced by 35 million cars? But Antarctica is under attack from the climate crisis threatening its nature, wildlife & us. Because what happens in Antarctica affects all of us!

(1/4) 🦐 This #WorldKrillDay, we celebrate Antarctic krill: one of the smallest species with one of the biggest roles on Earth.

They're the foundation of the Southern Ocean food web and help move carbon through the ocean, contributing to the health of our planet.

Today is #WorldKrillDay! ✨

Krill are a large type of zooplankton, and plankton play a key role in keeping ocean ecosystems in balance. Without plankton, entire food webs would likely collapse. ⚠️

On #WorldKrillDay we celebrate the microscopic crustaceans who are the real engineers of this ride, because Krill let the oceans ocean, support the vast diversity of life that the oceans hold, and are the primary food source for somebody the largest creatures who have ever existed on earth.
