In all fairness, the German language just sticks words together and creates new ones based on that. Weltschmerz literally translates to worldpain.

Start with "Weltschmerz" (lit. "Worldpain"-feeling of melancholy towards the evils of the world) but instead of Schmerz you use "Verdrossenheit" (feeling of dissatsifaction towards unchanging circumstance) and prefix Welt with "Fantasie" (lit.! not as in genre) and say "Fantasieweltverdrossenheit"

As a bit of a logophile Weltschmerz is a new-to-me word.

Although it is a couple of centuries old, it seems to be a rather apt descriptor for our modern day experiences.

Yeah I feel that… in the pandemic the news and all the numbers in it stressed me sooo much.
We have a word for it in german Weltschmerz (=worldpain). Feeling so sad for the whole world and you cant do anything about it and it feels like nothing in this world is really good.

We say "Weltschmerz" for all the tragic/devastating events which are happening around the world mit. "worldpain" which is depressing atm plus most of my are having a bad time atm and my body is a bit flary since weeks. I hope you are doing as ok as the circumstances allow friend<3 *big hugs*
