While NWS has made some (welcome) progress replacing staff lost in OMB/DOGE cuts, another serious issue continues to raise its head: the aging and degrading WSR-88D (NEXRAD) weather radar network. It is crucial for our nation - and we need to be clear eyed about its state.

My wife @laheat.bsky.social runs a literacy non-profit (Little Read Wagon) in central OK and works with this non-profit that does this on an organized basis. She gives away books and does reading activities for kids while parents and grandparents are doing laundry.
