HTC HD2 Successfully Runs iOS 7 Via Custom XNU Port A Legendary Device Meets Apple Software Developer j0sh1x unveiled a remarkable retro hardware porting project yesterday. He successfully demonstrated iOS 7 running on the legendary HTC HD2. Furthermore, he released the associated XNU kernel and hardware support code. Publicly available information indicates a significant milestone. The project now executes iOS user-space components directly on the device.

Developer JPRX recently released the open-source Darwin-VM project, a modified QEMU virtualization scheme that boots genuine iOS and macOS systems while simulating multiple generations of Apple processors. Users must understand that this virtual machine specifically targets niche research areas. It primarily serves XNU kernel exploration, security analysis, and reverse engineering studies. It does not function as a standard application emulator. Therefore, general consumers have absolutely no need to deploy this system.
