Convert a project to the new JSON format from Terminal:

xcodebuild -convert-project "Xcode Project" -project MyApp.xcodeproj

And to go back to the old format:

xcodebuild -convert-project pbxproj -project MyApp.xcodeproj

Try it on a branch first.
