Well, time to update the ol' Sprawl #yycvote candidate list... with charges of fraud?! Yep. Police have charged Nathan Mizera (CBE trustee, wards 1 & 2) and Shawna Easthope (councillor, ward 1) with fraud re: Discover Bowness. Have reached out to both, will update the list if/when I hear back.

A social media post by David Staples, columnist with the Edmonton Journal Post Media Newspaper, posted on October 27, 2024 which reads: The huge win for everyone on all sides, left, right and centre, is an election where everyone believes the results are credible. We used to do this effortlessly. Vote on Election Day with proper ID. Vote with paper ballots. Votes counted by citizens with scrutineers. A social media post by David Staples, columnist with the Edmonton Journal Post Media Newspaper, posted on October 20, 2025 which reads: Unbelievably stupid process to vote in Edmonton. Do they have no voter list anymore? Where they quickly check your name, ID and give you a ballot? Long line up to fill out paper with name/address, line up again so someone can check paperwork. Idiotic slow, stupid process. A snippet from a news article stating "The process for voting is different this year, which can impact the time it takes to vote. All electors are legislatively required to complete a Statement of Eligibility Form (Form 13) at the voting station. This form is a declaration by an elector that they meet the required legislated criteria to receive and cast ballots. Also, some electors will need to be added to the permanent electors register before receiving their ballots. This can take time. We ask Edmontonians to plan ahead and please have patience.

Alberta corporations have money to spare!

That's why my UCP changed election rules which allow corporations to donate to municipal political parties. Now, candidates can finally serve their wealthy elite donors!

Still undecided on your #yycvote for mayor? Want something to talk about at the Thanksgiving table? We're happy to report strong support from candidates on the #greenlineyyc vision & increasing funding to transit in Budget 2026. There's differing opinions on downtown & Stage 2:
All six leading candidates for mayor support the visions that Calgary should build Green Line as a light rail train line from Keystone in the north to Swton km the southeast via downtown. Jeff Davison, Sarah Elder, Jeromy Farkas and Sonya Sharp support either an elevated or tunneled downtown alignment, depending on cost. Jyoti Gondek and Brian Thiessen support a tunnel only. Sarah Elder, Jeromy Farkas and Brian Thiessen believe the next stage of Green Line should be built from 7th Ave downtown to communities north of the Bow River. Jyoti Gondek and Jeff Davison support building 7th Ave to Eau Claire. Sonya Sharp supports building from Shepard Station to communities in the south east. All six mayoral candiates commit to voting yes in support of a $14 million funding increase to Calgary Transit in budget 2026.

Why does voter turn-out matter?

Because in all likelihood, when everything is said and done, Calgary’s next mayor will have received the vote of roughly 1 out of every ten eligible voters.

And it makes it a slower process to vote too. Took hubs about 45 mins in #yycvote. Have heard that people have been leaving the line in parts of the province. Please stay and vote if able! I usually advanced vote, but it was tough figuring out who to choose. Will likely be a voting booth decision!
