New paper out in JSP!

Jerry Hooker revisits the genus Lessnessina, the affinities of which have been long debated, with 𝙇𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙪𝙢, a new sp. from the early Ypresian Blackheath Formation (UK) providing key morphological evidence.

I'm growing 3 ginkgo trees (about 10 years old) in Zone 4. They sometimes freeze to the ground and have to re-deploy stems. Here's A Ginkgo biloba leaf fossil from Ferry County, Washington, USA, Eocene, Ypresian, 49 million years old. They made it through the Chicxulub asteroid at least.

Also, I discovered Wirral once had gravel beds and large flint pieces similar to the Ypresian of London and Swanscombe. From c.400,000 BC large flint tools have been found, early Neanderthal? Most of the gravel beds were destroyed by later glacial action. But in places some traces remain.
