Can I just say... systemd is pretty nice?
I tossed a
WantedBy=tank-enc.mount
in a service unit and now it automatically comes up when I do "zfs mount -l tank/enc" even if I don't manage mounts via systemd.
(I'm making a thing to unlock ZFS datasets from a browser using age and passkeys!)

The prevailing wisdom for years has been "don't run database workloads on zfs" but I'm finding the performance difference between zfs and xfs to be narrower than expected when both are tuned.

I want to set up append-only backups with ZFS, like ruderich.org/simon/notes/....
However, this part of zfs-receive.8 makes it sound like a compromised sender could cause snapshots to be deleted on the recipient.
Does ZFS replication unavoidably trust the sender?

I just "upgraded" an x86 iMac 5K from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Jammy) to 24.04 LTS (Noble) & it bricked it.
Not sure if it was the Mac hardware or the encrypted ZFS root to blame. Clearly not a well tested upgrade path.
(It was encrypted ZFS root from Ubuntu installer, maybe a few versions back)
oh well
