Baghdadi Arabic
Jewish (JB) & Muslim (MB) dialects

In both dialects, the diphthong ay shifts to ē:

زين
zayn -> zēn

To my ear, (some?l) MB speakers go to:

zayn -> zēn -> zīyǝn

I’m no expert, but it sounds like this to me and I remember reading about it ages ago.

It seems rare/nonexistent in JB

Blanc (1964) says that speakers of the Jewish (JB) and Christian (CB) dialects also have this feature after front consonants, eg:

zayn -> zēn -> zīyen
layš -> lēš -> līyeš

I actually have not heard this in JB or CB; only when they speak the Muslim (MB) dialect.
