What is the function of saccadic suppression, wherein visual sensitivity is reduced around eye movements? This study traces long-lasting saccadic suppression in zebrafish and presents evidence suggesting that it may enhance the salience of relevant stimuli.

A Gata4–Loxl2 axis controls ECM remodeling to enable scar-free spinal cord regeneration in zebrafish
A Gata4–Loxl2 axis controls ECM remodeling to enable scar-free spinal cord regeneration in zebrafish
Fibrotic scar formation prevents successful spinal cord regeneration in mammals. Noel et al. identify a Gata4–Loxl2 signaling axis that suppresses pathological extracellular matrix remodeling and enables scar-free regeneration in zebrafish.

Most blue coloration in animals is structural, not pigments & relies on biogenic guanine crystals.

Guanine is the "G" base in your DNA.

When crystallized in a living cell, it forms thin layers of high refractive index like a thin mirror. Stack these up & you get prismatic color.

Seizures race through the brain in seconds, making them difficult to capture in detail.

To overcome the challenge, a new light-sheet microscopy system combines adaptive optics & rapid volumetric imaging to visualize seizure propagation in a larval zebrafish brain.
