[trying hard to capture the US zeitgeist] Go vote now to save Anakin Skywalker's dick from getting burned off

Tapping into the zeitgeist like usual!
Trump: "Who the hell wants to watch football? It's boring as hell ... I can't watch"

"this will turn the tide of the midterms" "this is culturally significant" "monumental zeitgeist victory" it's interesting how so much of their "anakin posting" (eugh) is about the imagined significance of it rather than anything it's supposed to be saying
Faced with a potential blue wave in this week's midterm elections, the most internet-poisoned MAGA influencers have begin identifying with Anakin Skywalker, a genocidal archvillain from a space opera. And some of them actually seem to think it could turn the tide.
The Online Right’s Closing Campaign Argument: Fascist Anakin Skywalker Memes
With Democrats poised to make significant gains in Tuesday’s midterm elections, Trump supporters have been reduced to posting bizarre Star Wars fan fiction.

Saw a comment on another app that said, “Haven’t read up on everything, but just my two cents,” and I think that really captures the zeitgeist of this era

its in the zeitgeist!
Just saw a 20-something girl in downtown Boston sporting a I’M A TALAFREAKO shirt, hell yeah queen

Strange. I don’t recall thus kind of discipling of MAGA and Trump after 2024. Instead we were subjected to think piece after think pieces on how political zeitgeist had fundamentally changed giving the new regime a mandate to move fast and break things, etc.
fascinated by political reporters who see their job as disciplining democrats and not just explaining what is happening
There's a difference between a blowout and a mandate. Confusing the two could tempt Democrats to overread the results and forget the serious credibility problem they still face heading into 2028.

Two months is plenty of time to coin a new word and have it capture the zeitgeist! Plenty of zeitgeist left!

Appreciate Cook but his narrative is still stuck in conventional wisdom about the political zeitgeist being anchored around affordability and dissatisfaction w Republicans, setting a trap for Dems in 2028. Weirdly he doesn’t talk about corruption or need for accountability & that misses the mark.
Charlie Cook has been forecasting elections for 42 years, and he's never seen an election quite like this one. On the pod, he is so good on why Dems are suddenly competitve in truly crazy places. He also explains why he expects the GOP to get a "hell of a beating":

He’s Been Forecasting for 42 Years. He Predicts a Crushing GOP Defeat.
In an interview, Charlie Cook, who’s been doing political prognostication since 1984, says he’s never seen anything quite like this election. And he expects a Trump-GOP “ass-whupping.”

Did I then text a friend who shares my admiration of this Baltimore hero, “I think I beat him this year” — Maybe!

(His costume was far more elaborate/admirable, but I do feel I hit the Baltimore zeitgeist a little more squarely. Zeitgeese?)

Nonfiction can also instill brainworms but they do at least tend to be more interesting. Unfortunately the march of fandom culture continues unabated and will probably consume larger and larger slices of the zeitgeist.

They're talking about it being a new zeitgeist and making all kinds of weird pronouncements, when it's just the same nazi algo being ineptly poked by 19 year old groypers who are not good at thinking.

Same thing as when it suddenly started answering *everything* talking about Kill the Boer etc.
