This does give me renewed hope that we are going to see the Zenithia trilogy get remastered next though who knows if that will be before or after DQ12 comes out

The zenithia trilogy (4-6), 9, and XI pretty much dominated me from middle school to early college. Just phenomenal, tightly designed games. Dragon Quest undefeated

Dragon Quest IV (DS, w/ Party Chat Patch)

talk about one hell of an adventure. the chapter set up and the way it all slowly unravels was great. the cast were likable and entertaining and fun to use in battle. it had many great moments & pretty much never slowed. what a journey
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen The hero attempts to earn the favor of Conrad 'Ilton, a businessman who may know the location of the fabled Zenithia Sword. Conrad 'Ilton: I couldn't 'ave said it better meself. You're right! Silence is golden, as they say. Alena, a thrill-seeking princess on the move, faces off against a horde of Abominable Showmen in the arena. Dragon Quest IV (DS, w/ Party Chat Patch) • I loved how unique the chapter structure was. I thought I’d be antsy to get right to playing the hero, but each of the party members’ stories are fun ways to get things started and give you that “zero to hero” feeling several times over. Once everyone’s story converges, it feels very satisfying knowing you’ve spent time with everyone separately • The cast was a blast! They all have excellent designs, they all felt useful and fun in combat, and they often had entertaining and endearing things to say. It really felt like traveling the world with good friends. Maya was a highlight for me, I think, as well as Ragnar and Alena • Having played 1 and 2 before this, the strong combat design continues to be this series’ mechanical strong suit. Genuinely interesting enemy behaviors combined with a plethora of options and engagements lead to satisfying dungeon-crawling that never actually felt like it got old in my 40-something hours of playing. The many spells all had their uses and made sure I wasn’t out of options, but challenging foes asked me to be very decisive in each action taken • The map was a joy to uncover, and I enjoyed how naturally it felt like it opened up as you went from place to place. There were some great town visuals and stories behind them like Riverton and Mamon, and the Zenithia portion felt like a particularly enthralling and magical part of the world, especially seeing as you spend so much time working to finally reach it • I quite loved the way the story unfolded this time. It was unexpectedly dark, and everything wasn’t as it seemed; in particular I enjoyed its approach to its main villain. He’s humanized well, without the story presentation lingering too much on it in a way that would distract from your own tale. You’re never told how to feel, you’re just left to feel it, and as a result I think the game ends up excellently written for its simplicity PEAK. GOAT. FIRE.

Honorable mention goes to the DQ Zenithia trilogy on DS. They have a similar 2.5D thing going on, and I think the game looks really good in motion. They put so much effort into those enemy sprites.

Day 21 - Angel Slime

I had something else planned, but cat troubles means some of my motivation was sapped.

#TwonArtIc #SlimeTime #DQM4 #DragonQuest
Day 21 of Slime Time: Angel Slime A hot pink slime with cartoony angel wings, and a golden halo worn over its pointy spot. Angel Slimes are a Dragon Quest Monsters 2 original Slime and have been a staple of the subseries since then. In some games, they may be associated with whichever holy power is in charge, such as Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, where their description claim they are agents of Zenithia. True to its angelic nature, the Angel Slime often comes bearing healing magic to support the player's party, though it may sometimes be seen using Thunder spells as well. In Dragon Quest X, an Angel Slime cap is given to players to help facilitate levelling their lower level vocations up until a certain level, allowing them to catch up to endgame players in a timely manner.

IV: Psaro in Dark Prince
V: Bianca and Nera in Withered World
VI: Terry in Terry's Wonderland

The Monsters games ALWAYS have either original characters or Zenithia characters as their protagonists.

With the announcement of Withered World, it's come to my attention that every Dragon Quest: Monsters protagonist that wasn't an entirely original character has been a major character/party member in the Zenithia Trilogy.

I do admit I found the Dragon Quest stream to be underwhelming for a 40th anniversary celebration. I was hoping a Zenithia trilogy remake and 10 western release.

Happy #DragonQuest 40th anniversary! No HD-2D remakes for the Zenithia trilogy yet, but here's a 720p ver. of the Dragon Quest Fantasia Video produced by Gainax, directly ripped from the LaserDisc by @lonelychaser.bsky.social. This is how you celebrate an anniversary, Square-Enix. You're welcome.

Is this castle possibly connected to Zenithia?
Gotta finish III HD-2D and then play VI and VII. I'll loop around to I and II remake when I've played the mainline titles. Probably after XI's third act.
But still on Cold Steel I.

but I've had no f**king time for Cold Steel since school has been out

between the previous and new dragon quest monsters games being based on DQ4 and DQ5, and the upcoming DQ12 borrowing from DQ6, they've been going into the zenithia trilogy a lot lately

I hope they port the DS versions or give them the HD-2D treatment soon

Dragon Quest XII Beyond Dreams is the next main game in the series.

Yuji Horii announced they restarted development, which explains why we haven't seen the game in 5 years.

I'mma be in the shower during that Dragon Quest thing tomorrow. If they announce the Zenithia trilogy, I'll finally play I-II Remake this year.

(I already played the originals a while back, but need an excuse to play the remakes... that I bought at launch...)

I'm hoping 1+2's lackluster performance pushed Zenithia HD back a bit and 9R forward

Zenithia DS is already my favorite aesthetic in the series, I dont really need them in HD any time soon
