Over 100 artists honored “art, do-it-yourself culture and political action” at the festival. Zines have been used as a form of resistance for decades.

A few zinefests I've applied to have a "your booth must be 80% (ish) zines" rule, and I think that's an elegant solution that more comic shows should implement.

If capitalism & growth mindsets are gonna dilute the spirit of conventions into Pop-Culture Coachella™ I rly think comic cons must go the way of the zinefest. Small, cheap, local, and community-serving.

friends who sell at zinefests, cons, etc. - is it your experience that folks just don't buy pin-back buttons anymore? i.e. the kind you make with a button machine at home? these used to be a solid seller for me & in recent years they barely move. did enamel pins kill them?

I went to a small zinefest in my town!! It was so delightful… found a bunch of new artists to follow and now I miss doing tiny zinefests 😭
