current theory: fancy tws set supports A2DP, receiver supports A2DP. receiver firmware disables A2DP sink though because of fucking DRM requirements. we will never have nice things while we suffer DRM to live on.

Now running my Pi Zero 2 W as a CD player & Bluetooth A2DP sink. Detects disc insertion via udev and runs a script. Uses cd-discid to look up metadata, creates a playlist for it and automatically loads it into mpd.

this is unironically how i differentiate between different OSes at this point:
can't run discord = embedded
can run discord but can't disable hsp/hfp for calls = mobile
can run discord with a2dp for calls = desktop
can't run discord = embedded

You're looking for something like "force A2DP profile instead of HSP or HFP profile". The latter two support mics, but only mono audio and a terrible codec. A2DP doesn't support a mic, but actually allows stereo and decent codecs. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

ちなみにMacでどんなコーデックでスピーカがペアリングされているか知るには、「コンソール」アプリで「A2DP configured at」でフィルタすれば観測できる。昔のmacOSだともっと簡単に確認できたのに。

ただ、ヘッドセットでマイクを使わないと、オーディオ送信専用のA2DPプロファイルになり、SBC, AAC, aptX, LDACとかの高音質コーデックが使える(機種による) Bluetoothヘッドホンで突然音質が悪くなったら、そのヘッドホンのマイクが有効になってなっていないか確認するとよい。

The bluetooth usb adapter branded 'Elecom LBT-UAN06C2' seems to work fine with linux (kernel 6.13.5 fwiw).
My ath-m50x headphones are now back to working using that + a2dp.

It's a bit strange to use a computer as a Bluetooth receiver, but it works in a pinch.
