Pan Sonic
Aaltopiiri
Just two weeks removed from the winter solstice, Finnish programming duo Pan Sonic produced Aaltopiiri (released 25 years ago today), an album which appears to salute the long Scandinavian night & spacious tundra where Mika Vainio & Ilpo Väisänen call home.

Office ambience: Pan Sonic. Had forgotten how wonderful this is.
I hear the tracks saying to me: "Get enough sleep. Then come back to the table and write something with risk in it."

I know it's not considered a classic on the same level as Vaiko, though it's obviously still loved. But Pan Sonic's Aaltopiiri is worth your time this weekend: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Aaltopiiri and Double Negative are favorites! Need to check those Fennesz and Phill Niblock albums out.

my friend @leafwork.bsky.social recommended me this album years ago, but the length was always so daunting to me, so after listening to Aaltopiiri a couple of times, I'm finally taking the plunge

Classic Album Review: Pan Sonic | Aaltopiiri
This came out in 2001 — or at least that's when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing): This Finnish minimalist techno duo used to be known as Panasonic. Then the corporate lawyers caught up to them. But even without the extra vowel, Mika Vainio and Ilpo Vaisanen

Classic Album Review: Pan Sonic | Aaltopiiri
