Morvenn Vahl, the Abbess Sanctorum herself!

I bought this model two and a half years ago and have been terrified to make it until I was “good enough” to paint it. I threw every technique I’ve learned in the past few months at it, including a full palette of paint and every brush.

I was just about to shoot the mother superior's plane down, but she fired a rocket at me first. It turns out that when you lock on to the abbess, the abbess also locks on to you.

Oh my god, the Abbess protests to Skipper of Otter’s plan to surround a gang of water rats and “finish them off” because “they’re the same age (as) your daughter.”

He and the Cellarhog protest because they’re vermin. “They’re young, alright! Young and evil!” 💀

Painted up Morvenn Vahl, supreme commander and Abbess Sanctorum of the Adeptas Sororitas. She's got a pretty kool Paragon warsuit and wields the Lance of Illumination in battle.

Fun model to paint but these warsuits are a pain to build.

This video above us for our next game (unannounced). The Abbess Garden is based on Port-Royal-des-Champs Abbey in the 17th century and based on Sylvain Hilaire's research @chcscuvsq.bsky.social

It's indeed a lot of research but I am a researcher myself so I care a lot ;)

A historian per garden and a working herbalist is serious research for a cozy game, and meeting Hildegard before you can use her recipes is a lovely way to earn them. Is the abbess herself based on one real abbey, or pieced together from several?

Hildegard of Bingen: A 12th-century German Benedictine abbess, polymath, and mystic who experienced vivid, luminous prophetic visions from a very young age. She documented her mystical experiences in theological texts like Scivias and corresponded with popes and emperors.

Today we go back to medieval times, and the music of Hildegard von Bingen.

Day 20 – Hildegard von Bingen
Hildegard of Bingen was a medieval abbess, poet, mystic, composer, and healer. We are fortunate to have so much of her music available for performance and study, as church records were well maintained over the centuries. Her music was primarily vocal - motets and hymns - as that was what the nuns would be able to perform regularly. Her harmonies are gorgeous, and (unsurprisingly) perfectly suited to women's voices.

2/2 The ammonites are a reference to St Hilda, who was Abbess of the monastery here before founding another down the coast at Whitby. They gave rise to a legend that St Hilda turned the poisonous snakes of Whitby to stone. Pleasingly, the genus of ammonites found in this area is called Hildoceras.

Even players who try our game are surprised that there is a strong romance part in it (mostly positively surprised, it seems). So even if we don't hide it (highlight it in the Steam page even), we don't manage to make people aware of it before they actually try it.

We managed to get into the First Love festival (starting Oct 23): first time for the Abbess Garden to be in a visual novel one, and probably won't have Steam featuring, but I'm still happy that the fact we don't have anime visuals is not a blocker.

Richest female run Abbey in England. Reports say the Abbess was entitled to sit in the House of Lords but excused on the grounds of her sex.
